Most Dobermanns are naturally eager to please, but they are also high energy, very busy (and sometimes stubborn) dogs who need a lot of training and stimulation. Some dogs will naturally pick up the rhythm of the household with minimal feedback and guidance, but others will need significant training and firm boundaries to make them the best dog that they can be. Our training section has a whole host of articles from how to get them to walk nicely on the lead to performing more exciting functions such as tracking and search work. Behaviour? Well, puppies particularly tend towards the naughty, and Dobermanns tend to be puppies often until they are 2 years old and 30 or 40kgs! That's a lot of naughty dog. Our behaviour articles will help you deal with issues such as resource guarding, socialising your pup to children and other dogs as well as issues of chewing, digging and other Dober-destruction. If you are having trouble with your Dobermann please do not hesitate to contact your vet or an animal behaviourist - these people can work miracles. |
